Sony used its fall State of Play on September 3 to clear the runway for Marvel's Wolverine and to put release dates on a long list of 2026 and 2027 titles. The roughly hour-long show mixed first-party exclusives with a heavy slate from Japanese and Korean studios, plus a couple of surprises for collectors.

The big dates

The headline was Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the final chapter of the remake trilogy, which now has an April 8, 2027 release on PS5, Xbox, Switch 2 and PC. Extended gameplay showed the Highwind airship in action. Other confirmed dates from the show:

  • Marvel's Wolverine: September 15, 2026 (PS5), with a final trailer featuring Jean Grey, Sentinels and Sabretooth
  • Crimson Desert: Charting The Unknown expansion: October 15, 2026
  • Final Fantasy Resonance: October 22, 2026, with a demo available now and Sephiroth revealed as a boss
  • Until Dawn 2: January 28, 2027 (PS5)
  • Metro 2039: February 4, 2027, with gameplay captured on PS5 Pro
  • Gundam Rogue Orbit: March 5, 2027

Updates for games you already own

Ghost of Yotei is getting a roguelike "Most Wanted" DLC and a Complete Edition on October 1. Gran Turismo 7's Spec IV update arrives in two parts in October and December with two new tracks, 12 cars and a Family Mode. Saros gets a free Zenith update adding a boss rush and New Game Plus, and Double Fine's Keeper hit PS5 the same day as the show.

Hardware and merch

Sony confirmed the long-rumored LEGO PlayStation set, priced at $179.99 and launching October 4. A Grand Theft Auto VI limited-edition DualSense in white and black variants arrives November 19, the same day as the game. The show also opened with an exclusive clip from Zach Cregger's Resident Evil movie, which hits theaters September 18.
