Nintendo of America is running one of its biggest promotions ever this month, and it is openly crediting tariff refunds for making it possible. The Customer Appreciation Sale runs through September 26 and takes 30% off dozens of digital Switch games and bundles, plus select physical titles, DLC, accessories, amiibo and apparel across the eShop, the Nintendo Store and participating retailers.
Why now
Nintendo said it absorbed most tariff-related costs over the past year, and that refunds it received helped fund the sale. What buyers will not get is money back on the console: the Switch 2 hardware is not discounted, and there are no refunds for people who bought one at the old price.
That old price is gone. As of September 1, the U.S. MSRP of the Switch 2 rose from $449.99 to $499.99, a change Nintendo attributed to "various changes in market conditions" it expects to last over the medium to long term. Original Switch pricing is unchanged.
The numbers behind the sale
Nintendo's most recent financial results put Switch 2 shipments at 23.68 million units as of June 30, 2026, with 58.17 million games sold on the platform. The April-June quarter was softer than the launch quarter a year earlier, at 3.82 million consoles, but operating profit jumped 150.5% to 142.5 billion yen and digital sales rose 90% year over year.
What to buy this month
- Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave launches September 17 and already sits at number one on the Switch 2 eShop chart on pre-loads alone
- LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight lands within days and holds two spots in the top 10
- Valheim and Meccha Chameleon both debuted strongly this week
Nintendo has also lined up Nintendo Switch Sports Resort for October and a new version of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for later this year.
